about us - Hypnotherapist / Stress Management Consultant - qualified and experienced in hypnotherapy

Rachel originally trained as a social worker at the University of Exeter, gaining the Diploma and Certificate of Qualification in Social Work in 1983. She is registered with the General Social Care Council.

She worked for eight years in Social Services and Education, with adults, adolescents and children, interspersed with career breaks whilst she had her own family.

A long-standing interest in psychology and complementary therapy led her to take an accredited course in Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (N.L.P.). This training specialised in Indirect Hypnosis, a method which places importance on tailoring therapy to peoples’ individual needs and personalities, rather than employing a standardised approach to problems.

Rachel gained her Diploma in Hypnotherapy and N.L.P. Certificate in 2003 and was awarded the General Qualification in Hynotherapy Practice by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council. She is professionally registered with this organisation, is listed on their General Hypnotherapy Register, and adheres to their supervision and training requirements.

She has undertaken training in Emotional Freedom Technique (E.F.T.) and holds the Advanced E.F.T. Certificate, together with membership of the Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques.

Rachel has been accepted as a member of the N.H.S. Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners, which provides a register of approved practitioners for use by doctors.

As well as running a busy private practice, she works several hours each week as a therapist at an addictions clinic. She has also provided relaxation workshops for Women’s Aid and tutors on therapy courses for the Workers’ Educational Association (W.E.A.).

Rachel is committed to using her skills and experience to assist others in achieving the changes they want in their lives, with the minimum intervention necessary. She feels strongly that therapy should be an empowering experience, providing people with practical ways to release problems and helping them discover and utilise their own strengths and resources.
